Psalm 1 – True Happiness in God’s Law

Happy those who do not follow
the counsel of the wicked,
Nor go the way of sinners,
nor sit in company with scoffers.
Rather, the law of the LORD is their joy;
God's law they study day and night.
They are like a tree
planted near streams of water,
that yields its fruit in season;
Its leaves never wither;
Whatever they do prospers.

But not the wicked!
They are like chaff driven by the wind.
Therefore the wicked will not survive judgement,
nor will sinners in the assembly of the just.
The LORD watches over the way of the just,
but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.

How do we identify the wicked?

  • By their fruits (actions)
  • They lack tranquility due to their sinful life
  • They destroy anything or anyone that/who is good
  • They do not take responsibility of their actions. They shift blame onto others
  • Constant liars

As we start the new year of 2025, pray that any wicked person around you be shown to you and be removed swiftly.

This psalm says that a wicked person only brings destruction into your life. The problem most people have is to underestimate the harm and overestimate the power of their goodness. Please believe that destruction is quicker than rebuilding. Avoid the wicked at all times!
